WHAT am I doing entering a bikini competition at the age of 41?!?

I think to myself, “I’m a forty-one year old mother of four kids, WHAT am I doing entering a bikini bodybuilding competition?”. That thought only lasts for a few minutes, then I remind myself that I’m doing it for me. I’m doing it to challenge myself, push my body to it’s farthest potential, and honoring the strong, healthy body that God gave me. I’m doing it for my husband and kids. I want them to see my hard work, dedication, commitment, sacrifice, and success. But most importantly, I am doing it for every mom out there who thinks they don’t have time to take care of themselves.

As a mom, we constantly put our needs, passions and desires to the back burner. I’m no different. I recently entered my first-ever bodybuilding competition, the NPC Pink Musclefest, and that doesn’t make those guilty feelings just stop. I still have those recurring thoughts of, “I don’t have time for this.”, “Am I taking too much time away from my family?”, “I don’t even want to walk on a stage in a bikini and heels.”, and “Will everyone think I am shallow and completely vain?”. Then a friend of mine reminded me, “You’ve never backed away from a challenge.”. So, yes, I AM doing this and I’m not going to allow those negative thoughts to keep me from being the best me. I’m not going to let my fears stop me, because I am stronger than my fears and doubts.

Because working out and making sure I have some “me” time makes me a better wife, mom, and friend. Because I want to prove to myself (and everyone else) that I can do it. I know that if I can do it, then you can do it, too!

I hope you will join me on my journey to NPC Pink Musclefest. I have been training for twelve weeks already and will be hitting the stage on October 14, 2017. That’s less than FOUR WEEKS away! I can’t wait to share my fears, struggles, and successes with you. I will tell you all the tips and shortcuts I have learned about healthy eating, the amazing supplement company that helps me get through my super-crazy, busy life, and some of the most inspiring people I have met along the way.
